Samsung’s most budget-friendly Galaxy Buds offer familiar features and functionality Samsung’s entry-level Galaxy Buds FE offer a lot of value and performance at this price. Much like their step-up Galaxy Buds2 and flagship Galaxy Buds2 Pro , they play well with Samsung phones and offer noise cancellation and “Ambient sound” modes. The noise-canceling circuitry is not quite as effective as those more premium models, but it holds its own against more constant, low-frequency sounds like an engine or HVAC unit. The Galaxy Buds FE feature a flatter, more tactile outer surface than Samsung’s other 2nd-gen earbuds. They are styled more closely to the design of the first-generation Galaxy Buds, which some may prefer to the other 2nd-gen models. The outer shell is flatter as opposed to round and optional wing tips are included to keep the earbuds secure. There’s a single dynamic driver in each earbud, tuned to deliver well-balanced sound with extra bass emphasis. Plays well with Galaxy phones and devices These earbuds feature Bluetooth 5.2, which is a relatively newer version, so you can play music and take calls almost any Bluetooth device or smartphone. But you get even better control on Samsung Galaxy phones, running Android(tm) 7.0 and up. You can also quickly switch the audio between other Samsung gear, like the Galaxy Watch or newer Samsung TVs . You’ll find the Galaxy Wearable app on most Samsung phones. It allows you to check battery levels at a glance, customize the earbud touch controls, and choose between the noise-canceling and ambient sound modes. Tuned by years of research These earbuds were tuned by the sound engineers at Harman and AKG. Samsung is the parent company of both, and I recently visited Harman’s headquarters where I saw their level of research firsthand. They spent a decade there developing a distinct set of frequencies – known as the Harman Target listening curve – preferred by the most listeners. The Galaxy Buds FE have a single-driver design
